So this is a blog post. I'm not exactly sure what I should write about, so I'll ramble about my senior project ideas and hope I get a passing grade on this blog thing.
My primary idea for my senior project is to make a 30-60 minute documentary on the Josh Ridings Band, chronicling the release of their album and their awesome adventures. I'm pretty psyched about it. I've always liked "rockumentaries" and my goal (as long as this idea goes through) is to make a version of Metallica's "Some Kind of Monster" without all the in-band drama, yelling, drugs, and $25,000 therapists. (It's a great film if you've never seen it, even if you have no interest in Metallica). I'm not so much into filmmaking itself, but more of the documentation of music related events and people. (I love band-related oral histories and biographies)
Up top is a visual idea of what I'd like the title scene to have on it. (Note the numbers)
I really hope this blog post is satisfactory for whoever is grading this and entertaining/interesting for those who aren't. If not, do me a favour (I use English spelling variants) and tell me what I should/shouldn't do.

Great pic- Looks like it could be an eye catching foray into the "rockumentary" (is that a word??) world. As I have considered your project I do have a question- what will be done with the video once it is complete? Besides the fact that you will learn how to create such an animal, is there another purpose for the project?
ReplyDeleteBy the way your blog entry is most definitely satisfactory- great in fact!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Jacob, I can't wait to see it! I think you should keep pursing this after high school.
ReplyDeleteI just got word that Josh's band may be releasing the new album in the next couple of weeks- Is this going to throw a monkey wrench in your plans? Maybe you already knew it would be this soon-If it is to be released that soon what will the rest of the video cover?
ReplyDeletewow, Jacob you truly are an amazing person. Great idea
ReplyDeleteI love this idea, Jacob, especially if you emphasize the personal-psychological-perhaps spiritual aspects of the band members. I think you have depth and insight beyond your years, so pull out all the stops for this rockumentary.
